We went to Disney’s Hollywood Studios back in April. While we were there we ate at the Sci-Fi Dine In Theater Restaurant. I didn’t even know this restaurant existed, so when I came across it online I was super excited and made a reservation. I was drawn to it because you get to eat in cars and watch classic movies on a big theater screen.
When we first arrived and we told the hostess that we were here, she was very rude. This is very uncommon for Disney and I was disappointed. There were nine of us that went, so our party was big and they were making a big deal about getting us a table large enough, even though we had reservations. We ended up sitting at two seperate tables that were not facing the theater screen and when we wanted to watch it we had to turn our heads. We all felt like this took away from the experience.
The inside of the restaurant really felt like you were outside at a drive in theater. It was dark and the ceiling appeared to have stars. The scenery and atmosphere were the best part of all. They played clips of both cartoons and movies, so it kept the kids interest.
The menu had a good selection on adult entrees and kid’s meals, but I did think it was a bit pricey. We got the fried dill pickles for an appetizer and I wasn’t a fan. I did get the Southwest veggie burger for my entree and it was really good. The food did take a long time to come, but our waiter was good.
Overall, I would most likely not go back to the Sci-Fi Dine In. I think the only thing it had going was the real life-like theater. The complications of getting a table and the rude hostess really set the mood for us. We will definitely try different restaurants next time at Hollywood Studios. What is your favorite restaurant in Hollywood Studios?
